Description:


The Village of Mundelein is seeking a skilled Telecommunicator to join our team. As a Telecommunicator, you will be the first point of contact for citizens and emergency responders, providing critical support and communication services.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Answer 911 emergency and non-emergency telephone lines, radio transmissions, and dispatch police/fire personnel
  • Monitor fire band for mutual aid calls and dispatch units as needed
  • Assist citizens at the lobby window with tasks such as processing bonds, preparing administrative tow sheets, and screening complaint information
  • Attend work-related seminars and training as assigned
  • Perform other Police Department duties as assigned by the Telecommunications Supervisor or command staff

Requirements:



  • One year of police/fire dispatching experience
  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Training on the Tyler Technologies CAD software
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including L.E.A.D.S. and E.M.D.
  • Willingness to work shift coverage and remain calm in emergency situations
  • Ability to work all shifts, including overnight, weekends, and holidays
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of background investigation and drug screen

Physical Demands:



  • Requires physical strength and ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Requires visual ability to read and write reports and correspondence
  • Requires speaking ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Requires ability to perform job in a safe manner with concern for safety of self and others

Salary and Benefits:



  • Hourly wage of $34.13 - $40.14 depending on qualifications
  • $1,500 signing bonus for individuals working a minimum of 144 hours after 6 months of employment
  • Paid time off in accordance with Village policy
