Position Overview
The Technical Project Engineer plays a crucial role in steering project and program technical initiatives, ensuring the delivery of superior and consistent outcomes for clients. This position involves formulating and executing strategies and standards while offering direction and leadership to project teams, managing stakeholder relationships, and collaborating with various service channels. The engineer will provide technical governance and continuously assess all facets of project and program execution to guarantee success.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical quality of outcomes delivered to clients.
- Coordinate with all other delivery workstreams within the account.
- Act as the primary escalation point for project-related issues.
- Collaborate with Computacenter PMO, Sales, Solution Sales, Consultancy, Integration Center, and onsite teams associated with the project.
- Lead and engage with subject matter experts as necessary for each project.
- Interface with key technical stakeholders from the client throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure customer signoff at the technical closure stage.
- Develop technical documentation required for each project phase, such as Site Survey and Rack Design Documents.
- Review and approve internal technical documents.
- Deliver technical documentation to internal teams and the Integration Center.
- Provide training on technical requirements within internal teams.
- Participate in First Article Builds and Proof of Concepts.
- Serve as the technical escalation contact for internal teams, including Integration Center, Field Engineering, and Consulting Team.
- Vet and oversee onsite resources to ensure appropriate skillsets are utilized to meet Computacenter's implementation standards.
- Offer technical support and guidance to onsite resources.
- Conduct performance appraisals for Project Engineers.
- Provide input for Statements of Work (SOW) and Level of Effort (LOE) for new and existing opportunities.
- Embrace and uphold Computacenter's mission and core values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience in installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining enterprise environments.
- Experience with large-scale workplace deployments.
- Relevant industry certifications (BICSI, CCNA, JNCIA) are preferred.
- Experience in datacenter solutions and associated certifications is advantageous.
- Experience in low voltage or audio-visual solutions and relevant certifications is a plus.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present effectively in group settings.
- Professional self-starter, capable of collaborating with others.
- Expertise in the latest technologies relevant to the field, with the ability to convey these technologies in layman's terms.
- Highly organized with a solid understanding of project implementation timelines and processes.
- Competent to advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Visio.
- Possess a sense of urgency with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
