Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure the quality and safety of our products.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including GFSI, BRC, and SQF.
  • Training and Development: Train and develop Quality Assurance Technicians in proper procedures, standards, and handling of employee relations.
  • Supervision: Supervise Quality Assurance department and inspection operations on all shifts for received, in-process, and finished product quality and food safety.
  • Communication: Partner with the QA Manager to supervise the food safety program, quality standards, and legality of products manufactured in the facility.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into out-of-specification products, materials, and ingredients, and ensure disposition and resolution.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as technical liaison for Quality Assurance department in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, externally with customers and vendors, and internally with production, R&D, marketing, and procurement.
  • Quality Complaints: Initiate quality complaint investigations, verify corrective action completion, and ensure continued conformance.
  • Facility Support: Support facility during inspections, customer audits, and other interactions with regulatory agencies/customers.
  • Certifications: Support facility with required certifications, including organic, non-GMO, kosher, etc.
  • New Product Development: Participate in new product development and commercialization.
  • Label and Packaging: Oversee label and packaging proofing and verification program to ensure correct labels are applied during manufacturing.
  • Internal Audits: Lead/train and participate in internal audits and mock recalls, ensuring compliance to internal quality policies and applicable local regulations.
  • Safety: Inspect work areas for safety hazards, observe employees' safe work habits, and take corrective action as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education/Experience: College degree or work experience equivalent; 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred or equivalent training and recognized aptitude.
  • Quality Experience: 3+ years of quality experience in the food industry; knowledge and proven experience with food safety programs and systems, including GFSI, BRC, and SQF.
  • Certifications: HACCP and PCQI certified or willing to become certified.
  • Skills: Versed in scientific methodology, RCA, continuous improvement, SPC, and other tools to reduce process variability; operational knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise a diverse work force; strong written and verbal communication skills.
