Cardiothoracic Surgery Step-down Unit Registered Nurse

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery Step-down Unit team. As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will provide exceptional patient care to individuals undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement, and minimally invasive or off-pump coronary bypass surgery.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care activities based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
  • Initiate and/or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients.
  • Respond to data indicating risk to individual's health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent the risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Comply with established hospital/department personnel policies.
  • Use communication strategies in order to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Document in patient's medical record according to established guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.
