Position Overview

Job Type: Part-Time, Retail Operations Specialist

Are you passionate about national parks? The Western National Parks Association (WNPA), a nonprofit collaborator with the National Park Service (NPS), is in search of a dedicated Part-Time Retail Operations Specialist. This role is essential in managing the daily retail activities at our park store, which serves as an integral part of the national park experience, helping visitors create lasting memories. Proceeds from sales at the park store contribute to educational initiatives, research, national park projects, and community involvement across numerous national park units.

We are looking for enthusiastic team members who will engage in all aspects of retail management, focusing on achieving sales goals and maintaining high customer satisfaction. You will also foster positive relationships with our National Park partners. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the retail store.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to visitors.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently.
  • Support retail management with tasks such as inventory management, receiving, stocking, cleaning, organizing, and merchandising.
  • Ensure effective and appealing product displays.
  • Become knowledgeable about the educational significance of store products and communicate this to visitors.
  • Assist with special events as needed, including after-hours and weekend activities.
  • Participate in physical inventory cycles and year-end counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Act as a representative of WNPA and the NPS, ensuring visitors have enriching and memorable experiences.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be necessary for local events or speaking engagements, including potential overnight trips. Use of personal or company vehicles may be required.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required—current high school students may apply.
  • Previous experience in retail and familiarity with point of sale systems is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Internet, databases, and Microsoft Office suite (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as computers, printers, calculators, multiline phones, filing systems, photocopiers, and dollies.
  • Strong skills in planning, organization, analysis, problem-solving, multitasking, and communication.
