Job Summary

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a highly skilled Archaeological Project Leader to join our team in the Facilities & Development division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading archaeological projects, including excavation, site survey, and recordation, as well as construction monitoring and report writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead archaeological projects, including excavation, site survey, and recordation
  • Conduct construction monitoring and ensure compliance with archaeological regulations
  • Prepare and submit reports on project findings and recommendations
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement project plans
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Archaeology or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in archaeological project management
  • Strong knowledge of archaeological methods and regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GIS software and mapping techniques
  • Knowledge of California state and federal archaeological regulations
  • Fluency in Spanish or other relevant languages
