Job Title: Supervisor Technical Pathology

At The MetroHealth System, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor Technical Pathology to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and effective supervision of assigned areas within Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the efficient operation and effective supervision of assigned areas within Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
  • Create an optimal environment for all phases of laboratory operations, including efficient sample processing, accurate/timely performance of laboratory testing, monitoring inventory, maintaining adequate supplies, and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Provide training and orientation to staff, students, and residents as necessary.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Requirements:
  • Registered Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent registration.
  • Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science Degree in related field.
  • Five years of laboratory bench experience as a Laboratory Technologist with a minimum of three years of experience in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytology, Blood Bank, Histology, Mortality Service, Support Services, Central Accessioning/Customer Service, Immunology/Virology/Molecular Testing, or Satellite and Rapid Response Laboratories.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Preferred: Supervisory experience, problem solving and analytical troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
