Recreational Therapist Opportunity

KurzSolutions is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team in a correctional setting. As a Recreational Therapist, you will develop and implement specialized recreational therapy programs to enhance social interaction, leisure time utilization, and reentry preparation for individuals in correctional or youth facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recreational therapy programs to meet the needs of individuals in correctional or youth facilities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care for patients.
  • Assess the recreational therapy needs of individuals and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Organize and lead recreational activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, music, dance, and outdoor adventures.
  • Modify activities to suit patients with diverse abilities, disabilities, and cognitive levels.
  • Monitor and document patients' progress, behaviors, and responses to treatment interventions.
  • Provide guidance, support, and motivation to encourage patients' active participation in therapeutic activities.
  • Educate patients and their families on the benefits of recreational therapy and provide guidance on continuing therapeutic activities beyond scheduled sessions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 to 36 months of therapist experience.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient in both oral and written English to effectively communicate.
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
