Position Overview

The Eye Care Group is in search of dedicated Ophthalmic Assistants who will play a vital role on the clinic floor, providing essential support to physicians and collaborating with fellow staff members and management. The primary objective of the Ophthalmic Technician is to enhance team performance, assist doctors, and ensure exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ophthalmic assisting techniques, addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
  • Execute all tasks assigned by physicians or leadership, including but not limited to vision assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, locating patients' eyewear prescriptions, and aiding in clinical procedures.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients.
  • Facilitate the training and mentorship of new technicians, fostering a culture of learning and support.
  • Conduct various diagnostic assessments as required.
  • Exhibit excellent attendance to prioritize patient care and team collaboration.
  • Contribute to team meeting agendas and participate in presentations as necessary.
  • Maintain punctuality by adhering to scheduled work hours.
  • Monitor personal productivity and responsibilities on the clinical floor, adjusting methods as needed to uphold efficiency and quality service.
  • Maintain a positive attitude characterized by cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Adhere to all practice protocols and comply with state and federal regulations, understanding the importance of reporting any potential errors to management or HR.
  • Assist Ophthalmologists during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Possess familiarity with healthcare terminology and electronic medical record systems.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Preferred: 2+ years of relevant experience.

Proficient computer skills, including the ability to navigate multiple screens and accurately enter data; familiarity with electronic medical records is advantageous, with experience in NexGen or Nextech being a plus.

Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

COVID vaccination is required.

Work schedule: 5 days a week, totaling 37.5 hours.
