Music and Performing Arts Educator

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a profound understanding of music and a genuine passion for engaging with children. The ideal candidate will possess prior teaching experience with young learners aged 1 to 9 years, demonstrating energy, adaptability, and a background in music, dance, or theater.
Core Responsibilities
- Instructing music classes for groups of young children, with sessions lasting between 20 to 30 minutes.
- Creating a nurturing environment that fosters security and trust among students through warmth and support.
- Exhibiting enthusiasm and a strong commitment to working with young children.
- Developing curriculum and lesson plans tailored to the needs of young learners.
- Collaborating effectively with fellow performing arts educators to design and execute two imaginative productions each year, encompassing music, dance, theater, set design, and costume creation.
- Performing additional tasks as directed by the Performing Arts Director and Site Director.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficient in reading music and arranging sheet music for rehearsals.
- Familiarity with various musical instruments, including drums, tambourines, choral bells, xylophones, maracas, and keyboards.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of formal training in music, dance, or theater is required.
- Preferred but not mandatory: 2 years of teaching experience.
- Experience in developing and teaching music or theater performances using diverse instruments and techniques is advantageous.
- Willingness to obtain certifications in CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Food Handling, along with proof of MMR vaccination.
- Ability to successfully pass a Criminal Background check.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation ranges from $35 to $40 per hour. Additional benefits include paid sick leave, vacation time, professional development opportunities, and childcare discounts.
