Position: Lead Formulation Scientist

We are in search of a seasoned formulation scientist with a strong background in crafting exceptional formulations for both domestic and international personal care markets. The successful candidate will oversee the development, technical assessment, and stability analysis of their formulations while maintaining an organized database of their work.

Reporting Structure:

This role reports directly to the Vice President of R&D and Regulatory Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a robust understanding of chemistry and the principles involved in formulating emulsions, cleansing agents, suspension products, and various finished goods, along with expertise in raw materials.
  • Exhibit creativity and a strong desire for technical learning and exploration.
  • Develop or replicate cosmetic and OTC products from concept to market launch based on client specifications and industry-standard clean lists.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create innovative formulations rather than merely modifying existing ones.
  • Be self-driven, proactive, and well-organized, capable of managing shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Showcase a customer-centric approach with adaptability and a willingness to collaborate across various teams.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address formulation challenges promptly.
  • Contribute to product innovation by enhancing and refining current formulations.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to lab technicians and junior chemists, adhering to industry and laboratory standards.
  • Maintain timelines for sample submissions, formula evaluations, pilot schedules, stability assessments, and safety testing.
  • Be accountable for successful contributions to R&D initiatives.
  • Engage with raw material suppliers and participate in technical meetings and seminars.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Production, Purchasing, and QA/QC teams.
  • Support Marketing/Sales with technical insights.
  • Comply with laboratory safety protocols.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with customers, team members, sales personnel, and management.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the organization.
  • Exemplify behaviors aligned with the company's core values and policies.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of experience in formulation
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Quick learner with effective time management skills
Able to multitask efficiently
Strong communication abilities

Educational Background:
Bachelor of Science degree
