Overview:
This role is situated within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically in the Management Directorate (MGMT), under the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM).

The primary objective of this position is to oversee, manage, and enhance the operational framework for privacy compliance documentation at OBIM, guided by the Branch Chief of Privacy and Policy.


Position Type:
This is a non-bargaining unit role.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Privacy Compliance Coordinator, GS , your typical duties may encompass:

  • Evaluating various reports and communications to ascertain privacy thresholds and related policies.
  • Facilitating the editorial workflow focused on document management, timelines, content organization, and approval processes pertinent to privacy compliance documents, while also preparing guidance for privacy compliance protocols and operations.
  • Proposing intricate programmatic and policy modifications.
  • Collaborating with system/program owners and officials, as well as other federal entities, to identify and rectify privacy-related issues and conducting business process evaluations to uncover vulnerabilities that could lead to a breach of personally identifiable information.
  • Ensuring that privacy concerns are addressed and that business operations adhere to all pertinent legal standards regarding privacy and unauthorized access to personally identifiable information.
  • Developing and executing initiatives that include oversight on the collection, utilization, and dissemination of personal information.

Qualifications:
To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in Federal service or comparable private/public sector experience.


Specialized Experience:
For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
  • Facilitating the development and/or drafting processes focused on document management, timelines, and workflows, as well as the approval processes related to privacy compliance documents, while preparing guidance for privacy compliance protocols and operations.
  • Developing and implementing initiatives that include oversight on the collection, use, and sharing of personal information.
  • Analyzing and reviewing a variety of reports that involve privacy and policy issues, which may include changes, conflicts, and projected impacts on the program office's ability to manage privacy concerns.
