Role Summary: Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) / Physician Assistant (PA)
In the inpatient setting, the ARNP/PA collaborates with the attending physician to ensure comprehensive care and management of patients within hospital units. Responsibilities include conducting patient rounds, participating in daily care decisions, writing medical orders, engaging with specialists, and organizing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Frequent bedside evaluations are essential to monitor patient conditions and adjust care plans as necessary. The role may also extend to outpatient clinic visits.
In the Emergency Department, the ARNP/PA supports the medical team in delivering thorough care to patients in urgent situations, including those in the chest pain observation unit. This position involves consulting with supervising physicians to determine optimal patient care strategies, adhering to legal and hospital regulations. A background in Acute Care as an ARNP or PA is mandatory.
For clinic responsibilities, under the guidance of an attending physician, the ARNP/PA will provide essential diagnostic and therapeutic healthcare services. This includes gathering medical histories, performing physical assessments, coordinating laboratory tests, interpreting diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and educating patients on treatment plans. Additional duties may involve shared on-call responsibilities and attending to hospitalized patients.
In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the ARNP/PA assists the attending physician in managing critically ill patients. Key tasks include patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, and coordinating necessary tests and procedures. Regular bedside assessments are crucial to evaluate patient progress and modify care as needed. An Acute Care ARNP or PA qualification is required.
QualificationsEssential Education and Experience:
A Master's degree in Nursing is required.
Credentialing: Candidates must fulfill the criteria established by the Medical Staff Office to secure and maintain privileges as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within the healthcare network.
Specialty Requirements:
- Adult ICUs / AGACNP required; ICU experience preferred.
- Emergency Medicine / AGACNP required; Emergency Medicine experience preferred.
- Pediatric ICU / PNP-AC required.
- Neonatal ICU / NNP or PNP-AC required; NICU experience preferred.
- Surgical/Operative Adult / APRN with RNFA required.
- Adult Clinic/Primary Care / AGACNP, AGPCNP, or FNP required.
- Pediatric Clinic/Primary Care / PNP or FNP required.
- Nurse Midwife / CNM or APRN with Florida midwifery license required.
- Psychology/Psychiatry / PMHNP required.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
This position does not involve operating vehicles for business purposes.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
A current and clear license (or eligibility for licensure) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Florida is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also mandatory.
