Key ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in alignment with departmental requirements and professional standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering various respiratory therapy modalities across different patient demographics.
- Performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, including monitoring patients on mechanical ventilation.
- Responding to emergencies such as cardiopulmonary arrests and trauma situations.
- Maintaining and processing respiratory care equipment.
- Providing specialized services within the department.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program.
Experience:
- Preferred: One year of critical care experience.
- Experience in neonatal/pediatric critical care is a plus.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Virginia Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
- NBRC credentials for Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- NRP and PALS certifications are preferred.
