Lead Nurse Supervisor

Position Overview:

This role is a pivotal administrative nursing position with comprehensive oversight of the Medical Foster Care (MFC) program within the designated region, reporting directly to the Executive Community Health Nursing Director.

Key Responsibilities:


The incumbent is expected to apply critical thinking and sound judgment in developing and executing program strategies, which encompass needs assessments, action planning, implementation, communication, quality assurance, and recruitment.


In partnership with the CMS Executive Community Health Nursing Director, the individual will plan, execute, and assess the performance of the Medical Foster Care program to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of service delivery.


This includes conducting regular needs assessments, ongoing planning, data analysis for system evaluation, and implementing quality improvement strategies as necessary.


Planning:


Assists in the annual needs assessment process for the assigned area in collaboration with the Executive Community Health Nursing Director. Analyzes data and program information to address current and future needs aligned with agency objectives and community requirements.

Develops program action plans with continuous monitoring to ensure the achievement of goals, providing annual reports and periodic updates as required.


Implementation:


Supervises the execution of the MFC program, ensuring ongoing planning, evaluation, and performance analysis at the micro level, while collaborating with management for macro-level impact.

Oversees the delivery of program services and activities by nursing, social services, and clerical staff, ensuring operational performance within the assigned geographic area.

Engages with community partners and manages the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of MFC parent providers.

Provides direct supervision of MFC program staff, including work planning, leave approvals, performance evaluations, and personnel actions.


Communication:


Ensures effective verbal and written communication to maintain consistent messaging among management, program staff, and stakeholders. Facilitates the dissemination and interpretation of policies and procedures.


Quality Assurance:


Implements quality assurance standards as part of the leadership team. Evaluates service delivery through systematic monitoring and data analysis, ensuring continuous quality improvement activities address identified deficiencies.

Communicates findings and recommendations to regional management for necessary improvements and revisions of internal processes.


Recruitment:


Oversees the recruitment and selection of MFC personnel, collaborating with regional management to ensure adequate program coverage and equity.

Performs hiring and onboarding functions directly in areas lacking supervisory positions.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Active Florida Nursing license as a Registered Nurse or multistate Registered Nurse license from another Compact State.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing care for children with special health care needs and familiarity with the foster care system.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
