Before and After School Teacher Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Before and After School Teacher. As a key member of our Child Care Program, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Positive Relationships: Foster strong relationships with members, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Support Academic Goals: Collaborate with parents and staff to support the academic goals and plans of our children.
  • Promote a Positive Environment: Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment that promotes social growth, health, and academic enhancement.
  • Maintain Site and Equipment: Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities and equipment.
  • Attend and Participate in Program Activities: Engage with our families and participate in program activities to build strong relationships and promote a sense of community.
Requirements:
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Value and promote diversity and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, at least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
  • Training and Certification: Willingness to enroll in and complete STARS training, Infant-Child CPR, and Basic First Aid certification.
  • Background Checks: Ability to pass DCYF background and fingerprint checks.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation and ability to assist at other childcare sites as needed.
Benefits:
  • Competitive Pay: $17.50 to $19.50 per hour, depending on qualifications.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Part-time, Monday - Friday, with before and after school shifts.
