Child Watch Lead Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Child Watch Lead to support the work of our organization. As a Child Watch Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
  • Assist and support the supervision of the Child Watch program under the directions of the Program Director.
  • Provide a quality experience focused on YMCA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
Requirements:
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
  • One year or more of related experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience working with children of all ages preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, and the ability to instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills needed to support youth staff and classes.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred)
  • Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
