Key Responsibilities
- Oversee gangway operations, ensuring effective access control and screening of personnel boarding the vessel for prohibited items.
- Coordinate security operations with external agencies and complete necessary Declarations of Security as mandated by international regulations.
- Supervise the setup, calibration, operation, and maintenance of all onboard security equipment in accordance with established guidelines.
- Manage the operation and upkeep of the security CCTV system, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain adherence to international security standards and corporate policies at all times.
- Assist the Staff Captain in managing the master key system onboard.
- Facilitate ongoing training for the security team in relevant procedures and drills, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Manage visitor access to the ship, including identification verification and issuance of visitor passes.
- Document security-related occurrences in the Port & Ship Security Management Database as required.
- Communicate role expectations clearly to all team members and provide performance appraisals based on observed behaviors.
- Mentor top performers for career advancement and promote continuous training in security protocols.
- Ensure that the training needs of the security team are understood and met.
- Effectively communicate security strategies and objectives to staff.
- Be accountable for the safety, security, and welfare of security personnel.
- Conduct regular meetings with team members to foster trust and address operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Support the coordination of resources in response to sanitation needs during outbreak situations.
- Collaborate with management to schedule safety-related meetings and training.
- Report any compliance issues to senior management promptly.
- Verify adherence to Deck Policies & Procedures and maintain accurate records.
Minimum of five years of security experience required, with a background in law enforcement, military, or related investigative fields. Experience in conducting investigations, interviews, and report writing is essential.
