Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for executing multiple aspects of the systems engineering discipline, including requirements decomposition, system performance analysis, and oversight of software development and system integration and test activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cyber security, software design, and architectures. Experience with cloud-based S/W architectures and systems, as well as AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute multiple aspects of the systems engineering discipline, including requirements decomposition, system performance analysis, and oversight of software development and system integration and test activities.
  • Interact with agile development teams, program leadership, and customers regarding technical considerations, risks, and issue closure associated with our portfolio capabilities.
  • Work with customers and engineering leadership to perform analysis necessary to define and document requirements for software releases.
  • Assist in the creation/management of a project schedule based on development and release activities.
  • Contribute to the technical planning and capability/feature designs, and technical detailing for agile development teams.
  • Work on a cloud solution, where parts of the system will be on the Cloud environment and other portions remain on a hardware environment.
Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cyber security, software design, and architectures.
  • Experience with cloud-based S/W architectures and systems, as well as AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation.
  • System engineering full life cycle experience and technical leadership experience in development of large software systems.
  • Experience supporting agile development activities, including requirements specification and integration test and verification activities (full life-cycle).
  • Ability to decompose customer epics into capabilities that can then be decomposed by the development teams into actionable features and stories for development.
  • Experience on a large-scale distributed software system.
  • Ability to maintain technical cost and schedule for systems engineering and software integration.
  • S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience.
  • SIGINT, GEOINT, or Multi-INT Intelligence Community (IC) background analyst with end user mission experience.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role of a large multi-disciplined engineering team.
  • Experience with cloud-based S/W architectures and systems, as well as AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience, as a System Engineer or working directly with in such roles.
  • Experience using modeling resources.
  • Experience using Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and evaluation of COTS / FOSS applications.
