Job Summary

The Clinical Social Worker is a licensed, experienced professional who serves as the clinical expert in the assessment and treatment of patients, families, and social work consultation to interdisciplinary teams in various inpatient and ambulatory settings within Yale New Haven Health System. This role requires diagnostic assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, brief treatment, crisis intervention, mental health consultation, teaching/mentoring, and other project/task force participation as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, providing culturally sensitive care.
• Maintain and enhance knowledge base and skill set through educational opportunities, meeting state licensure, hospital, and departmental standards.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work.
• For Connecticut, 3,000 hours of post-masters social work experience and 100 hours of post-masters clinical supervision are required. For Rhode Island, 24 months of experience licensed as a licensed clinical social worker under appropriate supervision are required.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the State of Connecticut, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) from the State of Rhode Island, or those holding licenses from other states, will need an 'endorsement' and meet the State of Connecticut or State of Rhode Island license requirements.

Additional Information

The Social Worker will possess empathy, active listening, critical thinking, strong organizational and computer skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with and advocate for patients and families. Experience in a psychiatric setting is strongly preferred.
