Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Women's Services Float Pool, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care for all assigned patients.

Your responsibilities will include conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients and their families, developing individualized patient care plans, providing family-centered patient education, identifying and addressing variances from the care plan, and facilitating discharge planning and education.

Your patient census may include antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, including the administration of magnesium sulfate and tocolytics.
  • Assist with procedures such as amniocentesis, versions, vaginal deliveries, vacuum extractions, forceps deliveries, and circulating for cesarean sections or elective terminations for medical indications.
  • Conduct admission interviews upon patient arrival and thoroughly document patient assessments.
  • Identify changes in patient conditions and promptly report these changes to the physician or charge nurse.
  • Assess and document patient educational needs and instructions provided during admission and throughout hospitalization.
  • Provide psychological and social support to patients and their families.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning.
  • Accurately administer and document medications.
  • Keep the physician and/or Clinical Nurse Coordinator informed of significant information or changes related to the patient and family.
  • Continuously evaluate the care plan to determine the need for modifications.
  • Provide individualized nursing interventions based on the care plan and document patient responses to these interventions.
  • Be on-call for up to 12 hours per 4-week schedule.

Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in at least 3 of the following 4 areas – Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, Transition Nursery, NICU.
Education:

  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy.

St. David's Round Rock Medical Center is a 150+ bed acute-care facility located north of Austin, Texas.

This comprehensive medical center features the only hybrid operating room in the county, a 24-hour emergency department with a Level II trauma center, and leading-edge cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David's Round Rock.

Patients may also receive care related to rehabilitation services, women's services, cancer care, neurology, joint replacement, and orthotics, and more when visiting this facility.
