Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner

The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population in the Emergency Department. He/she assures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the department's standards of care and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure/Registration/Certification:
- Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BLS upon hire
- ACLS within 1 year of hire or transfer
- PALS within 2 years of hire or transfer
- NALS/NRP recommended and desired.
- TNCC recommended.
- CEN certification desired.
- 1 year medical/surgical nursing experience required.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
- Must meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.
This position requires manual dexterity and has occupational risk. Physical effort is very heavy, exerting up to 50 lbs force. Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
