Job Summary

The Paramedic is a critical member of the CHI Saint Joseph Health team, providing emergency medical care to patients in the emergency department. This role requires a comprehensive care team approach, collaborating with RNs, physicians, and ancillary staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer BLS, PALS, ACLS, and critical care interventions under physician medical oversight, adhering to the National EMS Scope of Practice Model and CHI Saint Joseph Health guidelines.
  • Perform triage, assessments, interventions, and patient education as needed.
  • Document patient care services in a timely manner, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Promote patient independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals, teaching patients and their families about condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
  • Clearly identify self as a licensed paramedic while operating, adhering to all CHI Saint Joseph Health policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to all CHI Saint Joseph Health policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • Willing to pursue new levels contributing to professional growth and development.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from a nationally/state-approved accrediting paramedic program.
  • Unrestricted Kentucky Paramedic License.
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS American Heart Association certifications.
  • During the Paramedic's orientation period, the individual will be required to successfully complete an approved Critical Care endorsement course to maintain employment.
