Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to provide professional dental hygiene services to adults in custody at various correctional facilities in Oregon. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care, adhering to established protocols, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional chairside dental hygiene procedures, including oral inspections, radiographs, and patient education.
  • Record health histories, take vital signs, and conduct head and neck exams.
  • Administer fluoride treatments, oral antibiotic prophylaxis, and topical anesthetic agents as prescribed.
  • Polish and smooth restorations, perform oral prophylaxis, and remove deposits and stains from teeth.
  • Conduct deep cleanings, soft tissue curettage, and place perio dressings as needed.
  • Document encounters and treatment plans in patient medical records.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a dental license as a dental hygienist issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
  • Current Oregon licensure for the Professional Practice of Dental Hygiene, including radiologic proficiency endorsement and local anesthesia.
  • Must satisfy all Oregon Board of Dentistry continuing education requirements.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expanded practice permit.
  • Experience working in correctional settings or with vulnerable populations.
Working Conditions:

Will be expected to work in a fast-paced correctional environment, interacting with adults in custody. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, and communicable diseases. Must be able to walk or stand for long periods and climb stairs.
