Job Summary

Seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Chair to lead the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) department at New York Institute of Technology's College of Osteopathic Medicine. The successful candidate will provide on-campus teaching in OMM, oversee medical student education, and develop curriculum specific to OMM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine on-campus curriculum for OMM, including courses and clinical education.
  • Oversee clinical faculty teaching at the Arkansas campus site in OMM, ensuring excellence in clinical, teaching, research, service, and administration.
  • Assess departmental needs and recruit new faculty to meet those needs.
  • Conduct regular faculty reviews, evaluating performance, work effort, and areas for improvement.
  • Complete annual faculty evaluations for reappointment and promotion.
  • Manage department budget and participate in annual campus budget meetings.
  • Approve faculty time off, including vacation, sick leave, continuing medical education, and personal time.
  • Support the NYITCOM mission by participating in outreach and community service activities, such as health fairs, free clinics, and local outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to achieve NYITCOM-AR mission and strategic growth.


Qualifications

  • D.O. degree from a COCA-approved school of osteopathic medicine.
  • Board certification or board eligibility.
  • Current, unrestricted Arkansas State Medical License.
  • Completion of residency training with AOA board certification or CSP-OMM/NMM certification.
  • Preferred 5 years' experience in an academic setting or medical school setting, with successful demonstration of educating medical students and other health/science-related students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with timely responses to email communication.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the Microsoft suite.


Preferred skills and attributes include general knowledge in primary care and rural medicine, current proficiency in OMM theory and techniques, prior teaching experience, and demonstrated leadership ability to achieve proficiency in academics and research.
