Maintenance Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations of machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating and cleaning equipment, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, and perform adjustments to functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices, and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Ability to weld stainless and aluminum, and check and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace electrical and electronic pneumatic relays, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Operate handsaw, drill press, and electric drill, and maintain tools and machinery in good condition.
  • Work flexible hours to meet project/task deadlines, and communicate with supervisor regarding task assignment, task completion, and deviation from task schedule.
  • Maintain and complete task schedule, including written and verbal requests, and communicate suggestions, questions, and concerns to supervisor.
  • Work effectively, efficiently, and positively with minimal supervision, and maintain the cleanliness of work area.
  • Adhere to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations, and report safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Working Environment:

The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The temperature in the production area may be affected by outside temperatures, and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
