Job Title: Infection Preventionist - Long Term Care
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
This is a unique opportunity to work as an Infection Preventionist in a Skilled Nursing Facility. The successful candidate will coordinate and work closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices.
About the Role:
- The Infection Control Specialist will ensure efficient delivery of high-quality nursing care for residents and serve as a nursing practice expert, teacher, and resource person in assisting nursing staff to meet patient care needs.
- The role involves developing, maintaining, and periodically updating infection control precautions and aseptic technique.
- You will monitor infection control practices and procedures to ensure implementation of standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Control Committee meetings.
- Monitor patient health to identify signs of infection and disease progression.
- Educate patients about proper hygiene techniques and encourage good health habits.
- Provide nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of infectious diseases.
- Administer medications, perform medical procedures, and provide other patient care services as directed by a physician.
- Prioritize preventive measures to minimize the risk of infections among residents and staff.
About You:
- Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) License by the State of New York.
- Long-term care experience is preferred but not required.
- You should have good assessment skills and self-motivation.
- Prefer CDC course on Long Term Care Preventionist completion or training as an Infection Control Preventionist for Long Term Care.
