Senior Superintendent Job Description

The Senior Superintendent at Clark Water Group is responsible for overseeing all field operations on a project to ensure compliance with contract documents and the project schedule. This role involves implementing and enforcing safety and quality control policies among Clark employees and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the timely and cost-effective installation of contracted work, either for the entire project or specific scopes, subcontractors, or portions of the project.
  • Provide on-the-job training opportunities for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers, encouraging staff training and development.
  • Develop a plan for the sequence of work, project schedule, and organization of project work to ensure all work is completed in accordance with contract documents.
  • Have a working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Know scheduled delivery dates for critical path material and equipment.
  • Update the project schedule monthly and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Control field costs for Clark and subcontract work, supervising the field workforce to ensure work is completed in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Schedule and monitor field productivity.
  • Have a good working knowledge of equipment.
  • Implement safety programs, conducting regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with company, contract, and government standards.
  • Implement company safety policies and procedures and corporate QC policies and programs.
  • Assist in resolving scope conflicts.
  • Participate in project management functions.
  • Ensure punch lists are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in marketing proposals and presentations.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline or relevant experience.
  • 8-10+ years of water/wastewater construction experience with a large-scale commercial contractor or equivalent industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience building federal or government projects successfully from start to finish.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field operations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e., OSHA).
