Position Overview:
The Veterans Home at Chelsea, a state-operated facility, is dedicated to providing exceptional long-term care and independent living options for our esteemed veterans.

Role Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist I will play a vital role in delivering speech-language therapy services, including assessments for swallowing, aimed at enhancing the independence and development of residents while preventing disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough evaluations to establish goals and formulate tailored treatment plans.
2. Provide both direct and indirect therapy to veterans as required.
3. Utilize therapeutic and adaptive equipment effectively.
4. Maintain accurate documentation of all therapy-related services in accordance with facility policies.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care, including participation in interdisciplinary meetings.
6. Communicate proficiently with veterans, families, staff, and colleagues.
7. Support departmental objectives and goals.
8. Pursue professional development through continuing education opportunities.
9. Uphold professional ethics and conduct in all duties.
10. Complete quarterly screenings and annual assessments, contributing to MDS completions.

Qualifications Required:
1. Understanding of the science, theory, and principles of speech-language pathology.
2. Proficiency in evaluation skills and treatment techniques related to speech-language therapy.
3. Ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures, and standards governing speech-language pathology.
4. Strong clinical judgment and effective interpersonal communication skills.

On-the-Job Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with facility and departmental operational systems.
2. Enhanced clinical judgment and communication skills.

Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is mandatory. Depending on the assignment, a valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license may also be required.
