Chief Accounting Officer

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Accounting Officer to join our team at Veritiv Corporation. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our accounting operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and Manage the Accounting Department
Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff across multiple sites.
Partner with Business and Financial LeadershipPartner with business and financial leadership to evaluate the financial performance of the business and identify opportunities for improvement.
Integrate Financials and Back-Office FunctionsEfficiently integrate financials and relevant back-office functions from business acquired as part of inorganic growth strategy to enable rapid value creation.
Align Accounting Practices with Business StrategyCollaborate with other executives to align accounting practices with the overall business strategy and assist in the development of long-term financial goals and business plans.
Present Financial InformationPresent financial information to the executive team, board of directors, audit committee, and other stakeholders.
Foster a Culture of Continuous ImprovementFoster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team, including the use of evolving technologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations.
Lead Transformation of Back-Office Finance ActivitiesLead the transformation of back-office finance activities to leverage the latest tools and technology, such as robotic process automation and generative AI, to drive efficiency, accuracy, and insights-driven support of strategic business objectives.
Support Enterprise Data StrategySupport the enterprise data strategy as a thought leader and data owner for critical data domains, such as the general ledger, sub-ledger transactional data, and master data.
Additional Responsibilities and Qualifications- Oversee Financial Statement Preparation
Oversee the timely preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
Develop and Implement Internal ControlsDevelop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, proactively assess business risk, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Oversee Annual Financial AuditOversee the annual financial audit and manage relationships with external vendors, such as auditors and software providers.
Public Accounting ExperiencePublic accounting experience is strongly preferred.
Experience in a Publicly Traded CompanyExperience in a publicly traded company is required; experience taking a company public is strongly preferred.
Proven Track Record of Managing a Large Accounting TeamProven track record of managing a large accounting team and driving process improvements.
Strong Technical Accounting KnowledgeStrong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Work Experience- 10-15 Years of Related Job Experience
10-15 years of related job experience.
5-10 Years of Supervisory/Management Experience5-10 years of supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
Ability to Manage Multiple ProjectsAbility to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Ability to Work Quickly and EfficientlyAbility to work quickly and efficiently.
Excellent Verbal, Written, People, and Diplomacy SkillsExcellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
Experienced in Providing LeadershipExperienced in providing leadership to others regarding work-related systems, processes, and challenges.
Experienced in Strategic Management and LeadershipExperienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions, directing substantial resources over long time frames.
Experience of Interpreting Strategy and PolicyExperience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
Experience of Planning, Managing, and Organizing ResourcesExperience of planning, managing, and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
Proficient with Microsoft Office SuiteProficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong Customer Service SkillsStrong customer service skills (friendly, courteous, and helpful).
Strong Planning and Organization SkillsStrong planning and organization skills are required.
Education- Master's Degree
Master's Degree.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
