Job Title: Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Patient Care Technician to join our team at Reifenstein Dialysis in Juneau, Alaska.

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support services in our dialysis clinic. This includes preparing patients for treatment, monitoring their condition, and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the treatment process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for dialysis treatment, including taking vital signs and conducting pre-treatment assessments.
  • Monitor patients during treatment, responding to any changes in their condition and taking appropriate action.
  • Assist with the setup and operation of dialysis equipment, ensuring that it is functioning properly and safely.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families, helping them to understand the dialysis process and their treatment options.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and treatment, including vital signs, medication administration, and any adverse reactions.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to distinguish primary colors and pass the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
  • Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 12 weeks of hire.
  • Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline.
  • Must be flexible to work most days/times (no set shifts).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills required, with proficiency in all clinical applications within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to organize time and tasks well, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work with patients, staff, and all other individuals as required.
  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, professional, and calm manner.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Frequent long periods of standing, bending, stooping, walking, sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Valid Driver's License.
