We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Veterinary Technician to join our team at the University of Missouri-Columbia's Veterinary Health Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of veterinary medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough examinations of animals, including taking vital signs, drawing blood, collecting specimens, and gathering medical histories.
- Provide emergency first aid, monitor critical patients, and participate in procedures and treatments.
- Prepare equipment for surgical procedures, clean and organize treatment and examination rooms, and educate clients on treatment plans and animal care.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members to provide comprehensive patient care and support.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, and contribute to research activities.
- Graduation from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
- Licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the State of Missouri, or eligibility to obtain Missouri licensure within 6 months.
- At least 5 years of experience in a general veterinary practice or 3 years in a progressive specialty or veterinary teaching hospital.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Continuous learning and professional growth mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Keen understanding of animal behavior and strong clinical skills.
