Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers, Florida. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining, servicing, and repairing public housing residential units, appliances, equipment, and housing properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on residential units, including construction, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and perform repairs as needed.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and appliances to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and reduce downtime.
  • Document and report all maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Work with tenants to resolve maintenance issues and provide excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in maintenance and repair work, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Valid Florida State Driver's License and acceptable driving record required.
  • Fair Housing Compliance certification required within the first year of employment.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The incumbent must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials, and to work at heights and in confined spaces. The work environment is primarily indoor and outdoor, with exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and other hazards.
