Job Title: Blade Operator

Western Rock Products, a CRH Company, is seeking a skilled Blade Operator to join our team. As a Blade Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment, including Motor Graders and Blade Operators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading to prevent accidents.
  • Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging to avoid damage and ensure safety.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment or refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Keep accurate time and material records to track progress and optimize operations.
  • Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications to ensure accurate loading and transportation.
  • Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit to prevent overloading and ensure safe transportation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of grade stakes and plans to ensure accurate excavation and construction.
  • Travel from interstate highways to rural dirt roads from various locations, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • May assist Laborers at various job sites as needed, performing physical tasks involved with laying pipe and utility lines, and/or tasks involved with road construction and laying asphalt.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred, with previous heavy equipment operation experience or training.
  • Minimum two years of finishing experience, with GPS experience preferred.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
Computer Skills:
  • None required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Class B and valid medical card required.

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
