Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Site Manager to oversee the construction process at our Habitat home build sites. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the completion of all construction phases, managing subcontractors, and providing education and direction to future homeowners and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote the mission of Palouse Habitat for Humanity and engage future homeowners and community volunteers in all aspects of the construction work.
  • Oversee construction on the home build site, including setting and maintaining the construction schedule, ensuring all permits are secured and inspections completed, and managing subcontractors.
  • Develop good working relationships with homeowners, volunteers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure Habitat projects are built to code and that all safety policies are followed on-site.
  • Manage build site waste, recycling, material reuse, and material storage.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order and carry out required maintenance and repair.
Requirements
  • Experience in residential home construction and field management skills.
  • High standards of personal and professional integrity and accountability.
  • Maintain site safety through safe practices and documentation.
  • Able to read, interpret, and implement architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work with volunteers, skilled, and non-skilled workers with a positive and compassionate attitude.
  • Able to supervise groups or individuals.
  • Experience and skill with the tools, equipment, and practices involved in home construction.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be able to identify quality workmanship.
  • Comfortable with computers and internet, able to communicate by email, text, and phone.
  • Physically able to work in a construction setting: lifting, digging, climbing, bending, working at height, etc.
  • Able and willing to drive distances within Whitman and Latah County.
  • Knowledge and understanding of building code and construction practices in Idaho and Washington.
  • Willing and able to complete Habitat for Humanity Competent Person training and other certifications as required by HFHI and PHFH.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations or similar mission-related work.
  • Previous experience as a volunteer or supervising volunteers.
