About the Role:

As a technician on the buried drop team at Windstream, you will be responsible for the physical installation of underground copper, fiber, and coaxial cables, connecting the network hub to customer residences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the physical installation of buried cables to establish connections between Windstream's network and customer homes.
  • Utilize your technical skills and customer service orientation to foster meaningful relationships with clients.
  • Interpret work drawings and instructions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
  • Promote and sell Windstream's products and services effectively.
  • Provide training to new employees on daily operational tasks.
  • Operate handheld devices for job task management.
  • Handle machinery, including trenching and boring equipment, for cable installation.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • The ability to walk over half a mile while operating a drop plow for cable placement.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules, including overtime and on-call duties.
  • Basic proficiency in technology and mathematics.
  • Capability to distinguish colors in color-coded cables.
  • Physical strength to lift and carry loads up to 70 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of required training, including potential overnight travel.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
