THE OPPORTUNITY:
This role involves supporting classroom educators in delivering tailored instructional programs that cater to the unique needs of English language learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom educators in implementing instructional strategies designed for English language learners.
- Work with individual students or small groups under the guidance of classroom teachers.
- Maintain familiarity with State Academic Standards and the district's Scope and Sequence, along with relevant instructional materials.
- Collaborate in creating instructional resources to differentiate learning experiences for English language learners.
- Support teachers in organizing special events, such as cultural festivals and field trips, that celebrate the diverse backgrounds of students.
- Assist in providing necessary accommodations during standardized testing in collaboration with the Multilingual Multicultural Education Office.
- Help develop bilingual instructional materials that enhance learning.
- Facilitate communication between home and school through oral and written translations.
- Engage with parents and support staff in training and involvement activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as directed by the Multilingual Multicultural Education Office or school leadership.
- Adhere to the daily schedule and regulations set forth by the Multilingual Multicultural Education Office or school administration.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and prepare necessary reports.
- Proactively identify and address the needs of students.
- A minimum of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college coursework, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
- Proficiency in English and the native language of the English language learners served is essential.
- A minimum of three years of experience in an educational setting, whether voluntary or paid, is required.
- Possession or eligibility for an Ohio Educational Aide Permit is necessary.
- Strong organizational skills, motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are essential.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding service are required.
- A high standard of expectations and a willingness to go above and beyond for students is crucial.
- Note: This is a Union position. Current language needs include: Spanish, Dari/Pashto, Swahili, and Ukrainian.
