Job Title: Intervention Specialist

At Educational Empowerment Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Intervention Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality special education services to students, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and collaborating with teachers and staff to support student learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that they receive the same learning opportunities as their non-disabled peers.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to ensure that student needs are met, IEP goals are taught, and IEP provisions are followed.
  • Provide instruction to identified students in the classroom or intervention room, in small group or one-on-one settings, to help them meet IEP goals.
  • Monitor student progress, make recommendations to teachers, and communicate with parents to ensure that students are making expected progress.
  • Develop behavior plans for students whose behavior interferes with their or others' learning and monitor progress.
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students who are struggling, but not identified for special education services.
  • Meet compliance deadlines for IEPs and ETRs, maintain and update school Special Education Planning files, and ensure that all documents are completed and signed in a timely manner.
  • Work with speech and language teachers to ensure that speech-only IEPs are in compliance, and be a member of speech-only IEP team meetings.
  • Contact psychologists for evaluations, review psychologist's evaluations for accuracy, and bring forward any issues with the psychologist's evaluation for clarification.
  • Write IEPs, gather information from classroom teachers to write specific measurable IEP goals, review IEP drafts with classroom teachers and principal before team meetings, and use school-selected software to write IEPs.
  • Organize and conduct team meetings for IEPs and ETRs, make changes to IEPs based on team decisions, obtain signatures at team meetings, and provide final copies to parents.
  • Maintain Special Education files, maintain sign-out logs for Special Education files, update Special Education files as needed, complete progress reports, and create IEP progress report templates with updated goals following IEP meetings.
  • Work with classroom teachers to monitor goals and update progress reports each semester, ensure that all dates are in compliance with deadlines specified by law, complete all Special Education EMIS required reporting, update Section 504 plans yearly, meet with parents to revise 504 plans, and facilitate testing accommodations during state testing.
  • Establish effective working relationships with students' families to facilitate progress toward IEP goals, maintain student confidentiality, and perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the principal or management company.
Requirements:
  • Current Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist licensure in Ohio.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and community.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience preferred in an urban education setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
