Position Overview

The Senior Systems Development Engineer will play a crucial role in the management and enhancement of specialized IT infrastructure within an academic environment. This position is essential for ensuring the effective operation of systems that support both academic and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architectural Design:
Design, install, and maintain core systems architecture to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

2. Programming Support:
Provide programming and scripting services to enhance network and core systems functionality.

3. Training and Support:
Conduct training sessions for users to maximize the effective use of computing resources.

4. Advisory Role:
Offer guidance to faculty and staff regarding the utilization of computing systems and resources.

5. End User Assistance:
Deliver support to users in areas related to programming, supercomputing, and operating systems.

6. Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the unit's objectives.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
A minimum of four to six years of relevant experience is necessary, preferably within a higher education setting.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will possess experience with configuration management, automation, and operational knowledge of Linux systems. Familiarity with tools such as Salt Stack, Python, Bash, and PowerShell is advantageous.
