Job Overview

The ideal candidate will support attorneys in various aspects of litigation, including the discovery phase, document management, and maintaining electronic case files. This role requires specialized knowledge of legal documentation, terminology, civil procedures, and the judicial system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft a range of correspondence and prepare various legal documents, requiring familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
  • Establish and manage legal files in accordance with established legal standards and firm policies.
  • Assist in case management and monitor litigation progress.
  • Format legal briefs, pleadings, and other documents, demonstrating proficiency in both traditional and electronic filing methods.
  • Manage attorney schedules by organizing meetings, depositions, and travel arrangements; track court dates and filing obligations; stay updated on litigation changes.
  • Record and input attorney expenses for reimbursement.
  • Perform additional tasks as required within the job classification.
  • Ensure client confidentiality by safeguarding attorney-client information.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proofreading, grammar, and editing capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adept at problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with federal and state court filing processes, including electronic submissions.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Professional.
  • High productivity standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of staff.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making appropriate to the role.
  • Quick learner of new skills and systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of experience in litigation support.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Paralegal Degree or Certificate.
