Pharmacy Data Entry Technician Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Data Entry Technician to join our team at Woodmark Pharmacy of New York. As a Pharmacy Data Entry Technician, you will be responsible for accurately entering prescriptions into our pharmacy operating system, processing prescription refill requests, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy operating system for pharmacist approval.
  • Answer and triage incoming phone calls in the department.
  • Process prescription refill requests from facilities.
  • Make calls to facilities regarding medication inquiries.
  • Review and investigate rejected third-party claims; resolve/adjudicate as deemed necessary.
  • Review and establish cycle fill batch claims from automatic dispensing machines per schedule for all assigned locations.
  • Prepare and process third-party prior authorization forms and follow-up as necessary.
  • Process credits and returns.
  • Provide superior customer service.
  • Utilize electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled.
  • Recognize and follow the dress code of the facility, including wearing a name tag at all times.
  • Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3 years of Pharmacy Technician Data Entry experience in long-term care, retail, or hospital setting required; 5 years of experience preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in pharmacy/third-party billing, experience preferred.
  • Experience in long-term care billing preferred.
  • Ability to answer multiple phone lines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Prior experience working with third-party payors a plus.
