About the Position

Sonoma State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time lecturer position in the Department of Counseling. The successful candidate will teach graduate-level courses within the Master's Degree (M.A.) Counseling Program, focusing on the School Counseling and/or Clinical Mental Health Counseling tracks.

Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate-level courses in the M.A. Counseling Program, including core and clinical mental health counseling courses.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the program's mission and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in the practicum and internship sequences.
  • Engage in departmental service, including committee work and program development.
Requirements
  • Earned Doctorate in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited institution (preferred).
  • Masters in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or Clinical Psychology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution (accepted).
  • California Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Counseling, or equivalent.
  • Experience in school counseling or clinical mental health counseling.
  • Ability to articulate a theoretical orientation about school counseling or clinical mental health counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multicultural populations.
  • Ability to handle and approach students with delicate and difficult counseling issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the university level, preferably at the graduate level.
  • Ability to supervise practicum and internship students.
  • Knowledge of empirical/quantitative and qualitative methods, program evaluation, and statistics.
