Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student to join our Conservation Services team at KU Libraries. As a Conservation Student Assistant, you will play a vital role in the care and preservation of our diverse collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the conservation and preservation of library materials, including pamphlet binding, tipping in pages, removing staples, mending paper tears, creating custom enclosures, and cleaning and caring for library materials.
  • Work closely with a team of students and staff to achieve conservation goals.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of hand skills and attention to detail.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
Requirements
  • Current KU student enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.
  • Demonstrated prior work experience with performing detailed and repetitive work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Hand skills as evidenced on application materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work-study
  • Library or archive experience
  • Ability to work over the summer
