Role Overview:

A Long-Term Substitute Educator is tasked with delivering a grade-level, standards-based curriculum to students, adhering to the approved educational framework while the primary instructor is unavailable for an extended duration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to students to foster and enhance their academic success.
  • Oversee, manage, and uphold the standards of conduct and behavior among assigned students, promoting positive behaviors in line with school and district policies.
  • Assess, document, and report on students' performance, behavior, social growth, and overall well-being.
  • Develop educational outlines, objectives, and materials in accordance with curriculum standards or state and local regulations.
  • Clearly communicate lesson objectives for students, ensuring transparency in learning goals.
  • Deliver subject matter to students through diverse teaching methodologies and technology, adapting styles to accommodate various learning preferences.
  • Instruct students both individually and in groups, utilizing a range of teaching techniques (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Create, administer, and evaluate tests and assignments to measure student progress, documenting grades using district-approved software.
  • Compile reports on student attendance and activities as required by administration.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address and resolve academic and behavioral challenges, coordinating instructional efforts.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related discipline.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • Commitment to racial and educational equity, working to dismantle systemic barriers and support all students in achieving a high-quality education.
  • Residency in Colorado is required for employment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without accommodations.
