Responsibilities:- Provide general patient care, including observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Offer preventative health care counseling and instruct patients on treatment plans.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and healthcare needs.
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by training and experience, and as directed by physician.
- Consult with physician on difficult, unusual, or abnormal cases and make appropriate referrals and consultations for evaluation or treatment.
- Make hospital or nursing home rounds as directed by physician.
- Assist in the development of new policies, programs, procedures, materials, or techniques for designated department.
- Serve as a resource to nursing staff and other support staff, providing continuing education.
- Perform patient follow-up, including returning phone calls within 24 hours, evaluating and processing test results, dictating medical record information, compiling reports, and maintaining necessary paperwork.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies.
- Serve as patient advocate by maintaining patient confidentiality, protecting patient rights, and resolving concerns or complaints regarding care or service.
- Master's degree required.
- Licensure/Registration/Certification: Must be a registered nurse licensed in the state of Minnesota, who has successfully completed a formal nurse practitioner program approved by a national accrediting agency and who is then certified by a national certified organization recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification.
- Maintenance of National certification as a nurse practitioner required.
- Strong clinical, human relations, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively problem solve and make sound decisions.
This position requires standing, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, and handling/fingering. The strength rating for this job is moderate to heavy.
