Position Overview:

As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for operating advanced radiology equipment to capture high-quality images of designated areas of the body, executing related technical x-ray procedures in alignment with physician directives and established protocols. This role emphasizes the importance of patient-centered care, ensuring that the needs and comfort of members/patients are prioritized in every interaction.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency protocols.
  • Exhibit professionalism and effectiveness in clinical practice during every patient encounter.
  • Ensure patient safety by preparing and administering care related to medications and procedures, while consistently utilizing two patient identifiers and procedural time-outs.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding imaging procedures, positioning them accurately for optimal results.
  • Conduct both fixed and portable radiographic procedures, reviewing images for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Practice ALARA principles to maintain radiation safety standards.
  • Assist in various procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained and appropriate documentation is maintained.
  • Utilize Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, demonstrating courteous telephone etiquette.
  • Consider the diverse needs of patients across different age groups in service delivery.
  • Exercise clinical judgment within the scope of practice and may assist with student training or appointment scheduling as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience: Not applicable.
Education: Completion of a 2-year Radiologic Technology training program accredited by the American Medical Association is required. A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is also necessary.


Licensure and Certification:

Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is mandatory.


Additional Skills:
  • Ability to operate radiologic equipment and perform associated technical procedures.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of six months of experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred.
