About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our Endoscopy team at Duke Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect care to patients, ensuring a safe and efficient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Assist the Endoscopist and procedural nurse in a safe and accurate manner, maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, applying basic knowledge of instrumentation to multiple cases.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians, adhering to standards including unit and hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
  • Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, serving as a role model to new employees and other staff members.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or successful completion of the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification exam.
  • Level I- Entry level position for new graduates of Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologists with 0 to 18 months experience.
  • Level II- Requires 6 to 12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
Work Environment

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Some roles within our organization may encompass essential job functions requiring distinct physical and/or mental capabilities.
