Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Sound Engineer Assistant to join our team at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This is a dynamic opportunity for an individual with experience in live sound production and a passion for delivering exceptional audio experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate sound systems in three theatres, ensuring seamless execution of technical rehearsals and run-of-shows.
  • Collaborate with sound designers, costume designers, and wardrobe crews to implement and maintain wireless microphones during rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining sound equipment, adhering to high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with musicians regarding microphone placement and special equipment requirements.
  • Participate in special events by providing sound support as needed.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of three years of professional experience executing sound playback and troubleshooting for live sound entertainment.
  • Knowledge of wireless microphone rigging, basic Qlab programming, and digital console operation.
  • The ability to mix small reinforcement shows and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
Work Environment

This position requires working night-time and weekend hours, with a standard work week from Tuesday to Sunday. Overtime may be necessary during technical rehearsals, and flexibility is essential.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement planning, and opportunities for professional development.
