Child Life Specialist

Mayo Clinic is a world-renowned healthcare organization that values the well-being of its patients and employees. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting effective coping mechanisms and supporting the emotional needs of children and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families and children facing challenging experiences, such as hospitalization and healthcare procedures.
  • Develop and implement play-based interventions to promote coping and resilience in children.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and families.
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers, administrators, and the public about the needs of children under stress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in child development, child life, or a related field.
  • Completion of a 480-hour clinical child life internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • One year of recent work experience with children and families, preferably as a Child Life Specialist.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or acceptance to take the next scheduled exam and attain certification within the first year of employment.
