Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Valet Guest Service Agent to provide exceptional customer service to our guests. As a Valet Guest Service Agent, you will be responsible for parking and retrieving vehicles, as well as providing assistance with luggage and other guest needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Parking and retrieving vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
  • Providing excellent customer service to guests, including assistance with luggage and other needs
  • Directing traffic in the parking area as needed
  • Answering guest questions regarding local attractions and hotel amenities
  • Collecting and accurately labeling keys belonging to guests
  • Parking guests' vehicles in predetermined areas within the parking lot
  • Operating vehicles safely and responsibly
  • Organizing and filing paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions
  • Greeting customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Completing the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system
  • Verifying and imprinting credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods
  • Handling cash, making change, and balancing an assigned house bank
  • Accepting and recording vouchers, traveler's checks, and other forms of payment
  • Converting foreign currency at current posted rates
  • Posting charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer
  • Promptly answering the telephone using positive and clear communication
  • Inputting messages into the computer
  • Retrieving messages and communicating the content to the guest
  • Retrieving mail, small packages, and facsimiles for customers as requested
  • Fielding guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiating results
  • Remaining calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity
  • Planning and implementing detailed steps using experienced judgment and discretion
  • Resolving customer complaints; anticipating potential problems by reviewing and monitoring complaints, operational issues, business flow, and associate performance to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and quality
  • Taking ownership in the full guest experience, including assisting with a strong social media presence and driving the "San Diegan" experience

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and at least 2 years of driving experience
  • Energetic and outgoing, with the ability to stand, run, and carry guests' luggage
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a friendly and professional approach to everyone met
  • Experience with customer service, and experience working as a valet is an extra plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and help resolve customer issues in a positive and helpful way
  • Minimum of 2 years of Guest Service experience, preferably in hospitality
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficient with PMS system, preferably OnQ is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of brand's reward program
  • Able to handle cash and credit transactions
  • Proven work experience as a Valet or similar role
  • Neat appearance and upkeep of uniform
  • Able to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require a high level of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • General knowledge of local area attractions and transportation
  • Able to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Able to remain calm and alert, during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for other associates
  • Command of the English language, both written and verbal

Per the California pay transparency law, the wage for this full-time position is $16.30/hour. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Monsaraz San Diego considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position
